After being entrusted with her brother's Los Angeles apartment for the summer as a graduation gift, Emi Price isn't sure how to fulfill his one condition: that something great take place there while he's gone. Emi may be a talented young production designer, already beginning to thrive in the competitive film industry, but she still feels like an average teen, floundering when it comes to romance.
But when she and her best friend, Charlotte, discover a mysterious letter at the estate sale of a Hollywood film legend, Emi must move beyond the walls of her carefully crafted world to chase down the loose ends of a movie icon’s hidden life, leading her to uncover a decades’ old secret and the potential for something truly epic: love.

Nina LaCour talks about the Hollywood setting in EVERYTHING LEADS TO YOU:
Though I was born and raised in Northern California and have every intention of staying here all my life, Los Angeles is a second home to me. It’s where my dad grew up, where my extended family lives, and where I visit several times a year. I have a friend and a cousin in the movie business, and I was lucky to have them to learn from when I decided to set Everything Leads to You in L.A. and write a narrator who is deeply involved in filmmaking.
Emi, the narrator, loves L.A. I did a lot of really fun research to get the setting as right as I could. I went to the Chateau Marmont, a famous hotel with a star-studded history; I rented a bungalow in Venice for a week; I had a private tour of the Fox lot; I drove the streets of Long Beach where my grandmother lives; I people-watched in Silver Lake and Echo Park, two of my favorite L.A. neighborhoods. I’m sure that even though I strove for accuracy, I didn’t get it all right. But I did my best to convey the area through the eyes of someone who adores it.
